RSU 18 District

The organization is comprised of dedicated members that represent working parents, stay-at-home parents, teachers, grandparents, and members of our community. The PTO is made up of four officers as noted above to help finalize decisions and evaluate financial commitments. Being a member gives parents the opportunity to become involved in decision-making about how to enhance your child's education and a more direct voice in what happens at school. All our members have a common goal for the organization, which is to support parent involvement, better education, and safer schools in your child's life. It gives you the chance to interact with the kids, work with other parents and accomplish things that truly make a difference. There are no membership fees. WHAT does the PTO do? We provide multiple fundraising and non-profit events for the school. Which include events like the Halloween party, Breakfast with Santa, Family Movie Night, Longaberger Basket Bingo and the Fun Fair. We then can provide educational and cultural enrichment programs through our PCAC (parent creative art committee) programs that kids enjoy during and after school. New safe playground equipment, school supplies and programs are also supported by the proceeds from the fundraising events. WHERE can you help the PTO? The PTO can offer many resources to families to become more involved in every aspect of their child's education. Parent involvement can be as much or as little as you or other family members can give. It can be as simple as making a few phone calls a month to serving as chairman of a committee. James H. Bean PTO realizes that time has become the most valuable commodity to families these days and even an hour a month can be helpful to the PTO. WHEN does PTO meet? The PTO meets monthly and is posted in the weekly newsletter. The PTO member's general meets in the evening at the school on a given day and time, occasional chair committees meet more often to plan upcoming events. But members can be valuable whether they can be present at a meeting or not through their volunteering commitment.
