In short, Rubicon itself remains invisible to the customer who experiences only the brand of the insurance distributor. The insurance industry consistently struggles to engage the trust of the consumer in a meaningful way, hence the increasing prevalence of non-insurance brands as insurance distributors. Perhaps the industry will never be able to effectively establish a close consumer relationship; after all, insurance is a product which is more often "sold" rather than "bought". However non-insurance brands, especially retail brands, do enjoy the consumer's trust and loyalty. Maybe insurers should focus on their fundamental core competencies, things they cannot outsource - solvency and risk management for example.
