The African Biofuel and Renewable Energy
ABREC has been promoting the development of clean energy in Africa since 2009. Its role has been to facilitate entry of the financial actors that bring new climate-mitigation investments. This experience places ABREC in an excellent position to help African countries to manage the challenging transition to a low-carbon energy economy. The work of ABREC focuses on three axes of activity to promote renewable energy: Providing expertise to conduct feasibility studies to supply essential information on technical aspects of projects in renewable energy Providing project management services Providing technical assistance to governments as well as facilitating entry of private investors for renewable energy projects in Africa Helping to raise recognition of the gains related to expanded use of renewable energy and energy efficiency Strengthening capacity for regional collaboration among African countries to work together towards change in the energy systems is a crucial step in the advancement of renewable energies. Being member of an extended network of partnerships ABREC works directly with actors from a range of sectors mainly government, financial institutions, industry and private investors to enable investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Africa.
