Saigon Co.op

Started in 1989, after the Party Congress VI, Vietnam was transforming into a market economy under Socialism, the Co-operative model of yesteryears faced many challenges and many faced closures as a result. In this situation, on 12/5/1989, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City had the objective to change the Board of Management of the Commercial Co-operatives into present day Saigon Co-op with 2 functions, direct retail sales and organization of Co-operative events. Saigon Co-op is a Co-operative organization owned by members, responsible for its own operations and ownership.
