Salisbury Group companies

Salisbury has been established to provide high quality building and facilities management services. We clearly recognise within Salisbury that the health, safety and welfare of our employees, customers, contractors and visitors is critical to our continued success. We recognise that maintaining a high standard within health and safety generally not only provides legal assurance but that it also provides financial protection and certainty, as well as ethically being the right thing to do. To comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974) and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999), Salisbury operates a systematic approach to the identification of hazards and the management of risk within its operations. Salisbury will assess, manage and eliminate or control hazards and safety risks - to ensure that we have a proactive approach to health and safety with adequate resources provided. We assign responsibility throughout the management chain for the implementation of our health and safety management system, by ensuring we have competent people to undertake their duties. A competent team, led by the QSHEC Director, ensures that the management system is reviewed for effectiveness, updated for improvement, and audited for compliance at site level. Salisbury, through its management systems, will ensure statutory compliance is maintained as a minimum standard and its continual improvement programme, aligned to specific health and safety objectives, will keep the company at the forefront of health and safety management. Salisbury will consult its employees on matters of health and safety, and provide its people with appropriate training to ensure that they can undertake their responsibilities in a safe and effective manner. We will then expect that safe and healthy working practices are always followed by our employees and our contractors. The senior management team recognises that accidents, incidents and ill health are undesirable effects of systemic or management failure, and Salisbury shall make every attempt, through its risk management systems, to eliminate all such occurrences from its operations. Where accidents, incidents and significant near misses have occurred, Salisbury will report and investigate these events to reduce future risk to its people and achieve continuous improvement of its health and safety management. The senior executive responsible for health and safety will, through the QSHEC Director, review this policy as part of the management review process and provide a written report on health and safety performance to the board of directors. Changes made to this Policy will be communicated to all employees as required.
