San Juan County Fair

San Juan County Fair

San Juan County is the smallest county in the State of Washington. It is located in the northwest corner of Washington; its boundaries are contiguous and co-terminus with the San Juan Islands Archipelago, between Washington State and Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The county seat is the Town of Friday Harbor. As of the 2010 US Census, the county's population was 15,769. The population density is low and the majority of the archipelago is rural. A portion of the San Juan Islands is a National Monument, and their natural beauty and location make them a popular tourist destination. Consequently, tourism is an important part of the local economy. San Juan County operates under a Home Rule charter. It is governed by a three-person Council and a County Manager, with operational duties carried out by their respective departments.
