Sarawagi Rugs
Pioneering the art of rug-making for almost two decades, Sarawagi has gained the reputation of an innovative manufacturer, versatile designer and a leading exporter of handmade, designer Tibetan rugs. Established in 1992 by the Surya Rug House, Sarawagi has the requisite infrastructure for manufacturing prime quality designer Nepali rugs to satisfy the discerning customer. In order to maintain top level design confidentiality, and to ensure quality with timely delivery, the entire process from customer engagement to product delivery remains fully owned and operated by Surya Rug House, Nepal. With our commitment towards customer satisfaction, our devoted team of professional designers, master weavers and skilled dyers bring to life the beautiful Sarawagi rugs knot by knot. Sarawagi has adapted the century old Tibetan hand loom to create timeless pieces. We look at each rug as a piece of art and our team of designers is inspired everyday by Nepal's rich heritage as well as the influence of modern rug art. The predominant ingredient of our rugs is wool from the Tibetan Bheda (sheep). This wool's naturally oily property gives a lustrous sheen to the rug. What is magical about this wool is that the more you use the rug, the shinier it gets. Unlike other wool, the strands of this wool stand upright once woven. So when you walk on our rugs or comb your fingers through the surface, the strands will not bend. They're good as new, everyday. Other fibers used are Chinese Silk, Bamboo Silk, Hemp, Allo, Jute, Soya and Linen. A marriage of silk and wool is used to create Animalistic, Earthy, Textured, Solids, Abstract, Classic and Contemporary rug art.
