Saving Grace Farm
Saving Grace Farm was established in 1999 by Jill Hoben and her family. Jill wanted to share her love of horses with the community, particularly with children born with special needs and those affected by traumatic life experiences. In collaboration with Rowan County Hospice, the farm began by hosting Grief Camps for children that were dealing with the loss of family members. The farm also began offering services for children with special needs, offering therapeutic riding to the community and serving the Rowan Salisbury School System's Exceptional Children's Program. In 2007 Saving Grace Farm became a PATH, International Premier Accredited Center. Today, Saving Grace Farm continues to serve the community, providing therapeutic services in partnership with Monarch NC and the Veteran's Administration Hospital of Salisbury. We also serve individuals with special needs and their families, and offer learning and therapeutic opportunities for all members of our community. Saving Grace Farm also offers unique adventure based equine experiential learning opportunities for teams, families, and groups. These programs are perfect for corporate retreats and teambuilding experiences. Individuals learn about their own unique leadership style through interaction with the horses, and the group is challenged to work together as a cohesive unit to accomplish tasks that are created as metaphors for goals in the workplace. The horse offers honest feedback, humor, and sometimes a little fear, all of which create a rich environment for learning and team development. At Saving Grace Farm our priority is to offer safe, powerful and joyful interactions with our equine team. We have witnessed the healing potential of the horse, and are grateful to have the opportunity to bring this resource to our community.
