SBCERA was established on January 1, 1945 under the California County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 (CERL) following a vote by the people of the County on May 16, 1944. For more than 65 years, SBCERA has been providing the promised benefits to its members and beneficiaries while ensuring the plan remains solid and secure.
