Schiller International University

Schiller International University was established in 1964 by Prof. Dr. Walter Leibrecht, laying the foundation of what was to become a small and independent university offering its students an education of high quality. The Paris Campus is located at Montparnasse, in "15e arrondissement" (15th district). Montparnasse is one of the most lively areas of Paris on the left bank of the Seine River. At the turn of last century, Montparnasse was the center of art and Bohemian life. The student district "Quartier Latin", as well as many cafés, cinemas, shops and sights of Paris are within walking distance. Paris needs no introduction. As the capital of one of the great European and world powers, Paris remains a diplomatic and cultural center second to none. Its museums house some of the most extensive art collections in the world, and its distinguished architecture and wide tree-lined avenues make it a city of unsurpassed elegance and charm. The seat of the highly centralized French government, international business, and banking, Paris is the center of France and attracts students in every field of study. Political and economic problems today almost invariably transcend national boundaries. In other words, the international agenda encompasses scientific, technological, cultural and humanitarian concerns, as well as the more traditional area of diplomatic activity. Therefore, at SIU students initially pursue a broad course of study in the liberal arts, to give them a thorough grounding in history, economics, political science, and international relations. In their final two years of study, they go on to apply their acquired analytical skills to key areas of current international concern. Case studies, negotiation simulations, guest lecturers and on-site visits introduce real world content whenever possible in upper-level courses.
