Seattle Country Day School
Seattle Country Day School is committed to providing highly gifted children with meaningful educational experiences that strengthen their curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills. SCDS provides a comprehensive and thoughtful curriculum, and maximizes the opportunity in any chosen pursuit. SCDS admits approximately 50 new students in Kindergarten through 8th grade each year. The school is organized into three divisions: K-3, 4-5, and Middle School (grades 6-8). Although we admit new students into all grades, the primary entry points are Kindergarten and 3rd grade. Admission to SCDS is selective and based on a review of criteria that support our school's mission to develop the abilities of children with high intellectual and creative promise utilizing inquiry-based teaching. In carrying out our educational mission, SCDS is committed to creating an environment that embraces and supports diversity of all kinds. The Admission Committee takes great care in accepting children we believe will thrive in this differentiated learning environment. Information gathered from the student's IQ test (WPPSI III or WISC IV depending on age), application questionnaire, student records, teacher evaluations, and the student visit are utilized in making an informed decision regarding an applicant. The Admission Committee's primary goal is to ensure that the child is in the most rewarding and productive atmosphere, and is among intellectual peers. I hope information available on our website will be of assistance and I look forward to working with your family. Click on How to Apply for information about the application process.
