Spencer-East Brookfield RSD
Originally named Knox Trail Junior High, its purpose was to educate seventh and eighth grade students residing in the towns of Spencer and East Brookfield. Today, it houses Spencer and East Brookfield students in grades five through eight. The faculty and staff consists of 29 full time teachers,1 shared staff, 2 guidance counselors, a learning center program, a life skills program, a library clerk, and a nurse to educate and serve nearly 450 students. With an eye toward preparing our students for their 21st century world, we offer one-to-one Chromebooks in grades seven and eight, and classroom Chromebook Carts for grades five and six. There are two computer labs and a STEM lab, and each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and SMART Board technology. Our teachers are passionate, dedicated professionals who give countless hours of their own time to offer enriching lessons and extracurricular activities to our students. Students are at the heart of everything we do, and every decision we make. We work tirelessly with parents and families to make sure we are educating the whole child and teaching them to be thoughtful, productive citizens. To ease our new students' anxiety and trepidation, the teachers hold a meet and greet at the sending school in June. Here, students are introduced to their new teachers and get summer reading lists. All new students are also invited to an orientation in August for a presentation on the 'nuts and bolts' of the school along with a tour of the building. Academics:
