National Disability Insurance Scheme
SOLAS is a specialist mental health community organisation committed to working with people to achieve a life of choice, purpose, meaning and citizenship. We recognise and respect that the people who use our services are best placed to determine their needs. SOLAS values inclusion and as such management and staff work with people in a manner that respects individual self-expertise. We acknowledge and respect the fact that people are the experts in their own lives, as such we strive to promote opportunities that engage people in activities to create a good life. SOLAS has embraced the opportunity to employ Peer Support Workers. Peer support is a system of giving and receiving help founded on the key principles of respect, shared responsibility and mutual agreement of what is helpful. Peer support offers a culture of health and ability as it is an inclusive model that creates room for all people to fully experience being who they are, growing in the direction of their choice and in the process being supported to achieve these goals. SOLAS also recognises the importance of mentally healthy workplaces and as such has the capacity to assist organisations to develop and implement practical policies and strategies. SOLAS also acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of the land where our services are delivered across northern and western Queensland.
