Seminar Information Service
Social Investment Scotland was launched in September 2001 as a £5m partnership between Scotland's four biggest banks and the public sector. SIS provides a range of loan finance to social economy organisations, which are unable to raise funding, either in total or in part, from commercial sources such as banks. It also provides business support and advice. Over £2 million is now committed to Scottish social economy organisations. This supports investment worth over £7.5 million in a wide range of projects. SIS also plays a key role in developing the capacity of Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs) operating in under-invested communities.
