Sera Scandia A/S is a Danish company dedicated to the production and distribution of products applied in Biotechnology and Nutrition, working through subsidiaries and associated companies around the world. The Group was founded in Venezuela in 1975 as suppliers of bovine and porcine pancreas glands to Novo Nordisk and later expanded across Latin America and has offices in North America, Europe and China. The company has become an expert in creating added value for animal by products, specializing in turning animal blood into Food, Feed and Biotechnology products. The group combines advanced technology with a financial capability that represents an attractive solution for suppliers, clients and partners alike in the biotechnological and nutritional industries. In all fields of activity we take a responsible and serious approach to animal welfare and strive for continuous improvement. We are open to joint ventures in projects where our special competences are of relevance. As a Danish company Sera Scandia A/S, in certain geographic areas, can work with financial support from IFU and Danida, Danish government entities dedicated to the economic improvement of developing countries through local projects with Danish companies. Sera Scandia A/S is a leader in the procurement of European animal sera from free grazing animals with no exposure to GMO feed and hormones and submitted to the most rigorous testing in the world as per EU legislation. We have in place a filtration agreement with Biowest, France guaranteeing quality, traceability and compliance with EU standards for animal welfare and are exclusive in procuring Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) following the unique EU regulations for identification and registration of bovine animals ensuring documented traceability to the individual animal. Activities in the Group are divided in two divisions. FOOD, FEED and PHARMA, covering animal proteins used for Food and Feed; other ingredients for the Food industry; Food processing; and Pharmaceutical raw material. The Food division includes companies producing egg proteins and meat products; and other companies commercializing Food and Feed ingredients complimentary to the products made by the Group. Pharma includes bile and heparin. BIOTECHNOLOGY, covering animal serum for Biotechnology applications and vaccine production and chemically defined cell culture media.
