SFI Tanzania

SFI Tanzania has high level national and international qualified management staff for plantation management and sisal production. Our staff at the sisal estates have long-term experience in cultivating and manufacturing sisal. The sisal plantation was established in the first half of the 20th century and currently covers a total planted area of more than 3000 ha. In employing approximately 400 people, mainly from surrounding communities, SFI Tanzania supports the local development of the Tanga region. We keep assessing and improving the working conditions at the sisal plantation and the decortication facility to support healthy and safe working environment for our employees. HCV stakeholder consultationAt SFI Tanzania Ltd. we are working towards certification of sustainable management on our estates, i.e. FSC-certification of our forestry activities. Part of our sustainable management is the maintenance or enhancement of High Conservation Values (HCV) in case they are found on the estates. The High Conservation Value (HCV) analysis report, which has recently been published on our website, presents an assessment of the presence of HCV attributes at Kwamdulu and Kwaraguru estates.
