The Shetland landscape is very beautiful and wild and there is plenty of scope for various outdoor activities - walking, bird-watching, sailing, kayaking etc. Most sports and hobbies are well represented with clubs here, and people are generally friendly and welcoming. The community here is fairly prosperous, mainly due to the presence of the oil industry. The schools are excellent and well-resourced and there are several leisure centres with swimming pools and gyms. Unemployment is very low compared to the national average which means there would be employment opportunities for an accompanying partner or spouse.
