Sinfonia Viva

Sinfonia Viva prides itself on its truly collaborative approach to education work, encompassing both the artistic and social aims of the projects. The Orchestra can offer extensive logistical support to project partners, and it will even work with you to raise the money to make your dream project happen. With Viva, nothing is ever simply 'off the shelf'. Viva is dedicated to creating new and exciting music in its education work, by commissioning composers and workshop leaders to write new pieces, and developing original music directly with participants. The sense of ownership and creative achievement for participants as they perform a piece that is truly their own is something Viva strives towards whenever it performs with project participants. In recent years, we have worked on education projects with composers including Anna Meredith, Fraser Trainer and James Redwood, as well as internationally renowned soloists, dancers, choreographers, illustrators and film makers. Sinfonia Viva is committed to creating an environment within which every person can achieve and progress, developing both artistically and as individuals. Professional and personal development is at the heart of the Viva ethos, for all participants, teachers, musicians, composers and workshop leaders. By providing in-depth planning and training sessions before every project, teachers and staff members are able to develop their own artistic and leadership skills, and to take these beyond the life of the project. The importance of this creative approach has been highlighted by a new independent report written by Professor Anton Franks, from The University of Nottingham.
