Sitka Center
Since 1971, Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, located on the central Oregon coast near Cascade Head and the Salmon River estuary, has fostered creative inquiry and education. The involvement, investigations, and creative work of resident artists help Sitka Center fulfill its mission to expand the relationships between art, nature and humanity through workshops, presentations and individual research projects, and to maintain a facility appropriate to its needs that is in harmony with the inspirational coastal environment of Cascade Head. All residents engage in community outreach during their stay. The Fall/Winter residencies conclude with an exhibit and open house, January 20, 2007, 1-4 p.m. In addition to its Residency Program, Sitka Center annually offers one-to-five day 80 workshops. The 2007 catalogue for May-September will be available in print and online late February.
