Skipper Otto's Community Supported Fishery (CSF) creates a direct connection between local fishermen and consumers with the joint goal of protecting ocean resources and improving our local food system. To do this, we adapted the "Community Supported Agriculture" (CSA) model which seeks to link consumers to family businesses that produce local, organic, sustainable, fairly-traded food. CSF members buy a share at the beginning of the season (before June 1st), and receive premium, local, wild seafood throughout the season. We offer a flexible, buy-down system where members can pick-up what they like, when they like. No need to come every week or to pick up a set item or amount. All of our products are competitively priced for members. Members receive email pick-up notifications throughout the season. Vancouver members have the option of regular pick-ups at the False Creek Fishermen's Wharf with fresh fish from roughly June to September and frozen, smoked, and canned products throughout the rest of the year. In addition, metro-Vancouver members can choose from Farmer's Markets and Community Partnership Pick-up locations in a variety of neighbourhoods including Point Grey, East Vancouver, Burnaby, and Abbotsford where they can get any of our frozen, canned or smoked items. Home delivery is also available on select days. Out-of-town members have the option to choose from multiple delivery options throughout the year depending on location. Some of our products, such as smoked salmon, lox, and cans, come in pre-determined sizes, but most of our items are a price/weight system. When you place your order, you will receive an average or ballpark priced. When you come to an in-person pick-up, we will weigh your items to determine the exact price. If you are picking up your order at a Community Partnership Location or outside of metro-Vancouver, the exact weight and price will appear in your account once we have weighed and packed your order.
