Slack Auto Parts
The Slack Auto Parts Company was started in 1928 by William H. Slack Jr. to sell parts and accessories to the growing automotive aftermarket. Beginning with one location in Gainesville, Georgia, the company expanded into the North Georgia market. During World War II, the company's machine shop helped the war effort by producing shell casings for the U.S. Army. Over the years the company gained a reputation for quality parts and service. William H. Slack Jr. passed away in 1971 and his son, William H. Slack III, took over for him. The company continued to expand in the North Georgia area. In 1975, the company opened Truck Parts Warehouse to provide parts to the heavy duty vehicle market. The company continued to build on its commitment to providing quality parts and excellent customer service. In 2004, William H. Slack III retired and his son, William H. Slack IV, took over for him. The company has remained focused on the business principles that have enabled it to operate for over 80 years. In 2009, the company joined Federated Auto Parts Distributors, a leading automotive buying and marketing group. We then opened a 24,000 SF distribution center in Buford, Georgia to service its stores as well as independent auto parts stores.
