Solar Therm
SolarTherm is one of the first companies in the country to recognise the value of the sun's free energy. In 1982 having recognised the value of harnessing the power of the sun, Alpha Engineering Services collaborated with the National Engineering Research and Development Centre of Sri Lanka (NERD) to develop a solar water heating system that would play a pivotal role in the area of energy conservation in Sri Lanka. The success of this venture resulted in the birth of Alpha Engineering Services' brand, SolarTherm. Having been awarded the national honour in 'Pioneering Industry Status', by the Government of Sri Lanka the management, renamed the company to Alpha Thermal Systems (Private) Limited, in order to explore the potential in alternative and economical energy resources. From modest beginnings, Alpha Thermal began to introduce new standards of efficiency and quality control to the local solar energy industry. The company's dedication to continuous research, development and innovation has led to the existing leadership status of SolarTherm in the local solar energy market. SolarTherm has become a 100% solar energy solution provider, helping the company diversify into many other energy conserving processes. In 2003, Alpha Thermal Systems (Private) Limited, created a sister company, Alpha Solar Energy Systems (Private) Limited, to increase focus and improve customisation of its solar photovoltaic (PV) activities. The company sources raw material from leading manufacturers worldwide, which facilitates a high quality guarantee for its products. Solar-Therm also has a well-trained, highly motivated team of individuals who subscribe to the company's core values of customer focus, a dedication to quality, attention to detail, high service standards, and continuous improvement in the business. This dedication has been recognised with numerous awards and quality certifications for their expertise. Over the years, the company has been a proud partner of micro-finance institutions and non-governmental organisations in Sri Lanka, helping to ease the demand on the hydroelectric grid and providing low-cost energy solutions to low-income segments and rural areas, thereby contributing to the economic development of the country.
