Soma was founded in 2004 by Mr. John D'Amico, who has been involved in the mattress and furniture industry since the age of 17. For over 30 years, he has been involved in everything from design, manufacturing, distribution and management. Our original concept Soma Sleep & Wellness was his visionary concept combining healthy and quality mattresses with an on-site wellness clinic that offered acupuncture, manual osteopathy, shiatsu massage and Traditional Chinese medicine. His original idea was based on his passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture along with his deep passion for a healthy sleep environment. Over the years, our retail concept has evolved but our philosophy and mission have remained the same: to be the industry leader for natural and organic sleep products while helping people achieve a deep, healthy and restorative night's sleep. By providing excellent service and high-quality products for all of our customers, Soma has thrived and grown into Canada's leader for organic mattresses. In 2011, we moved to our current 5,000 square foot location on Bridgeland Avenue. This has allowed us to expand our product selection to include items such as solid wood furniture Made in Canada in an eco-friendly manner.
