Sonae SGPS SA is a Portugal-based retail holding company. Sonae operates with 2 major partnerships in the retail and telecommunication sectors. Sonae's business portfolio includes Sonae MC, which is involved in the super and hypermarket retail business; Sonae SR, engaged in non-food retail, sports, textiles and electronics, through seven brands; Sonae RP, active in real estate assets; Sonae Sierra, which develops and manages shopping malls, and Sonaecom, which provides telecommunication services. Additionally, the Company has investment and portfolio management units offering credit risk services, insurance brokerage and financial consulting activities. As of December 31, 2010, the Company's brand names included Continente, Loop, Modalfa, Modelo, Sport Zone and Worten, among others.
