SOPFIM is a dynamic organization with upwards of 30 professionals in its hire. On account of the seasonal character of work to protect forests from insect pests, the number of employees can rise sharply during the summer period. SOPFIM has adopted a project-based management approach as part of its efforts to promote the principle of continual improvement within the organization and to motive its best elements. Whenever a project is launched, a project leader is identified and mandated to select from among the team of experts those resources required to make his or her project a success. Management of SOPFIM's different units has been entrusted to specialists. This responsibility not only motivates them to stay on the cutting edge of the technical, scientific and technological knowledge of their field of expertise but also enables them to actively contribute to the organization's overall quality and effectiveness. All unit managers are likely to become project leaders and thus have the opportunity to improve their management skills. Under the auspices of a General Manager, SOPFIM is organized into three divisions that encompass a total of six units.
