South Luangwa National Park in eastern Zambia is a hotbed of wildlife activity, this game rich park has one of the largest concentrations of wildlife in Southern Africa and is home to Africa's most famous wildlife and scenery. South Luangwa supports large populations of Thornicroft's Giraffe, and herds of elephants and buffalo often several hundred strong. Look to the river and you will see vast numbers of crocodiles and hippos. It is said there are 50 hippos per km of the Luangwa River, with at least 6000 in South Luangwa.
