SPARTACUS RECORDS was established in 2000 by Scottish saxophonist Tommy Smith after he recorded a succession of solo records from 1983 through 1999 on Independents, Blue Note Records & Linn Records. His new label features many great musicians including Kurt Elling, Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, David Liebman, Joe Locke, Bill Evans, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Kenny Barron, Joe Lovano, John Scofield, John Taylor, John Patittuci, James Genus, Peter Washington, Billy Drummond, Brian Kellock, Ingrid Jensen, Bill Stewart, Steve Hamilton, Orlando Le Fleming, Sebastiaan De Krom, Gareth Williams, Alyn Cosker, Kevin Glasgow, Clarence Penn, and legendary poet Edwin Morgan.
