STS have developed a product that converts a standard vehicle seat into a seat than can be used to transfer and transit passengers with disabilities, and or more generally mobility impaired passengers, on coach, airline, rail and marine passenger services, improving the access, safety and equity afforded to disabled and elderly passengers, on public transport. QuickLock can easily be fitted to a standard vehicle seat during manufacture, or can also be retrofitted into existing vehicles. QuickLock has been crash tested in Australia to ADR 3/02, exceeding the safety standard required for coach seats, and meets all legal and commercial requirements of coach manufacturers and operators. We plan to meet the same targets for the airline industry and have partnered with a leading aircraft parts manufacturer to achieve this. While initially being developed for the bus/coach industry, we are looking to develop andcommercialise QuickLock for use in rail, marine and airline industries. The idea for QuickLock came about after we attended an Australian Bus Industry conference. We were invited by Mercedes Australia and the BIC in Australia to develop a product that assisted the safe transfer and transit of passengers in coach services, while also taking into consideration the costs to operators. Throughout the design process we have worked closely with leading industry members, along with the governing bodies for both Bus and Airline industries in Australia. We have also engaged with the disability commissioner for the Australia Human Rights Commission and have received their support. We plan to commercialise QuickLock for both Airline and Coach industries, and we are currently engaged with government and private industry to secure the funding required to commercialise our products.
