The company we know as SPI Property Inspections, began its days as Superior House Inspections. It was founded in 2002 by Colin Legg, who continues to own the company while no longer managing the day-to-day operations. Colin is a registered builder and has worked in the building industry for over 40 years. His experience includes house construction, renovations, creating stage sets and event floats, and residential and commercial building inspections. Colin also has a number of Award recognitions to his name, including being appointed Judge for the HIA Victorian Housing and Kitchen Bathroom Awards from 2013 to 2016. Helen Legg joined the business in September 2009, and in late 2010 became Colin's wife and joint owner of SPI. Colin and Helen met at BNI, a business network group, and were able to successfully combine business and relationship networking! Helen's background is in branding and marketing communications, and for over 12 years, she worked in the construction and engineering industries. She has also established and run several businesses. The SPI team has now grown to 10 people, including contract building inspectors across Melbourne and Central Victoria, and an office team managing the bookings, marketing and administrative functions. Our contract inspectors have collectively over 150 years of building experience and a wealth of knowledge about the trade and building best practice. To date, SPI Property Inspections has undertaken over 7,000 building inspections. Our central office is located in Vermont South. We service clients for both residential and commercial inspections across Melbourne metro, North and North-East Victoria, Ballarat, Mornington Peninsula, Geelong and Central Victoria.
