Startup Estonia
For that, we are working on making Estonia one of the world's best places for startups, partnering with and uniting the best of startups, incubators, accelerators, private and public sector. What exactly does Startup Estonia do? Today, Startup Estonia divides its activities into 4 categories: Strengthening the Estonian startup ecosystem - uniting and building the community through different events and activities, creating and executing unified marketing and branding strategies; Carrying out training programs for startups in areas they currently lack certain knowledge of that keeps them from achieving their (international) business goals; Working on educating the local investors to help them invest more and smarter, help attract foreign investors to Estonia, and kickstart new accelerator funds in order to bring more smart money into the local ecosystem; Working on eliminating regulative issues and barriers that are complicating the process of operating a startup, investing or raising funding in Estonia, and implementing startup friendly regulations such as the Startup Visa. What are we hoping to achieve? We hope that by the year 2020, we have supported and encouraged the Estonian startup ecosystem enough to have become self-sustainable and thriving. Therefore, we hope to be happily nonexistent in a few years time with having to have served our purpose :). At the moment there are an estimated of 550 startups in Estonia and by 2020 we aim to reach a magical 1000 startups. The Estonian startup community has gathered data about the Estonian startup scene since the year 2006 - all investments, fundings, failures and exits of Estonian tech startups. Through that information we hope to show a reliable picture of the Estonian startup landscape and provide you with a possibility to follow along with the progress it's making. Startup Estonia's program is powered by KredEx and financed from the European Regional Development Fund with 7 million euros. Get in touch
