St. Bonaventure Church

Founded in 1957, St. Bonaventure Catholic Community is the spiritual home of about 2,600 registered families in Contra Costa County in Northern California, drawing mostly from Clayton and Concord. Strengthened by worship and formed in their faith, our parishioners take seriously their call to bring the light of Christ to the world. Parishioner engagement is not confined to the liturgy. We have a large faith formation program, nearly X ministries, many aimed at meeting the needs of the surrounding community. A spirit of welcome is a key feature of all that the parish does in faith formation, liturgy, sacraments, and ministry. The diversity of St. Bonaventure crosses many boundaries including age, culture, economics and language. Young families with children worship side by side with seniors at liturgies that range from quiet and contemplative to joyful and enthusiastic. Gifts are shared as they are given with a variety of invitations to participate and engage in the parish life as able. Liturgies and faith formation programs are offered in English and Spanish to best communicate with our brothers and sisters. Over 100 different ministries are active at the parish. These include liturgical ministries, sacramental preparation, faith formation, youth ministries, adult education and spiritual enrichment, and social ministries. We are an engaging, collaborative, welcoming and diverse parish.
