Southern Tier Insulations

STI was founded in March 1978 by Mike Coppola and Gary Serbonich in Johnson City, New York. STI started with 4 employees working mainly for IBM headquarters in Endicott, NY. The fast growing company relocated and has been at its present location in Endwell, NY since 1981. In 1983, just 5 years after incorporation, STI marked a milestone-registering over a million dollars in sales. In 1995, STI began the transition of selling the company to its employees under the umbrella of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP. In 2007, that transition was completed, distributing 100% of the outstanding shares of the company into the hands of the employees. STI currently employs 130 people servicing over 300 customers, in over 10 states in the northeast, averaging $10-15 million in sales a year.
