Street Cats

Street Cats is a group of local volunteers who were moved by compassion to help rescue stray cats and kittens in the Georgina area. We cannot help all the strays and we cannot take in unwanted pets. But we do help some strays each year. Each year we help between 80 and 95 cats and kittens. We hold events during the year such as craft sales, garage sales, perogie sales, and so on. All funds raised from these events go to our vet bills only. The directors and friends of Street Cats purchase all food and kitty litter with their own money. As we all have our own cats, we feel that using Street Cats' funds for food and litter would only create questions regarding which cat is eating whose food. We can only take in cats and kittens if we have room and money to cover the costs. If you are interested in our fostering program, please let us know. We want to keep Street Cats going, because the need is so great. We hold fundraising events such as craft sales, bake sales, home-made perogie sales (they are delicious!), garage sales, yoga/and self defence classes where all funds collected are donated to Street Cats. The funds raised go towards our veterinarian fees, and vet supply expenses. We donate our time, stationery, and even the ingredients for our baked goods and perogies. We want to keep Street Cats going - and so we need good homes for the cats in care now. If we do not have adoptions, then we cannot take in more strays, and unfortunately, all too often find we have to tell someone who calls for help with a stray that we cannot help them. And we need foster homes - people who are as dedicated and unrelenting as we are in helping strays. People who don't mind giving up a spare room or missing a few hours of sleep to keep a new momma cat company with her litter of kittens, or a tom company when he is disoriented to find himself suddenly indoors. The rewards come back to you ten-fold when you help a cat and know that you have taken this poor creature off the street and provided him/her with warmth, food, fresh water, a cozy bed, and a safe environment. The next time it is pouring rain, and cold, you can look at that furry one and smile at the luxury she/he is enjoying in your home. I hope you enjoy your visit to our website. Please visit the whole site and look at the cats available for adoption. If you are thinking of adopting a cat, ask yourself what you can give to the cat. If your answer is love, patience, a secure home, then please contact us. Visit our wish list page - and offer what you can to help us help the cats. Please tell your friends!
