STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) was founded in 1929 on the premise of quality and innovation and was the first company to focus solely on the research and design of sports surfaces. We were originally appointed as consultants to the UK Golf Unions and The R&A (Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews) to provide services for golf clubs to improve golf greens and courses. By the 1950s, STRI had clearly established a reputation as the leading company for providing advice on the design of sports surfaces and developing new products and techniques for managing all types of sports surfaces and amenity grass areas. The last two decades have seen growth on an international scale for STRI, with us delivering a full range of design, consultancy and research services across a global client base of around 2,100 sports clubs and facilities each year. Today, STRI is recognised as the world's leading authority for design, research and advice on sports facilities design and sports turf management.
