Sunrise Association

The mission of the Sunrise Association is to bring the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings world-wide, through the creation of Day Camps, Year-Round Programs, and In-Hospital Recreational Activities, all offered completely free of charge. What we are feeling as a nation today - the isolation, the uncertainty, the fear of contagion - is reminiscent of what so many of our families experience every day. The current COVID-19 pandemic has caused Sunrise to pivot many of our programs so we can continue providing our services to our campers. Here are some of the ways we have been pivoting and meeting the emerging needs of our families: Sunrise on Screens - a YouTube based-video project that brings the magic of Sunrise right into our campers' homes and hospital rooms. Support from Sunrise - created to guide our families to relevant organizations, whatever their need may be. We assigned more than 35 staff to personally call every one of our families - both past and present - just to touch base, check on them, and make sure they knew how to access these resources. Surprises from Sunrise - gift bags full of toys, puzzles, games and crafts are mailed to individual children in the hospitals. Virtual Camp that will engage, thrill and delight our campers from the comfort and safety of their homes. Virtual camp will consist of a combination of pre-recorded, hands-on videos and live, interactive sessions with camp friends and counselors. The Sunrise team will regularly send packages to our families filled with supplies and camp swag - everything that our campers will need to fully participate. No matter the obstacles, Sunrise will continue bringing smiles, support and love to all our families.
