Surrey Care Trust
Surrey Care Trust helps local people to improve their skills for work, life and learning and has organised an annual fundraising walk for over a decade. Thanks to hikeathon sponsors Broanmain Plastics, walkers can be assured that every penny raised goes towards the trust's mission of helping people to overcome the disadvantage of low skills, poor educational achievement, limited opportunities and tough financial circumstances. There's a new route for this year's hikeathon, which is also supported by the Surrey Advertiser. The 24 circular walk starts and ends in Shamley Green and includes Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill. It also takes in parts of the Greensand Way and North Downs Way affording walkers spectacular views of the Surrey Hills. There is an option of walking 12 miles starting at Shamley Green and finishing at the lunch stop in Wotton. Registration costs £50 and participants are asked to aim to raise £100 in sponsorship. Refreshments and drinks are included and lunch is provided for all walkers. Every walker who raises over £150 for Surrey Care Trust will also receive a free t-shirt. Formed in 1976, Cranleigh Ladies have gone from strength to strength over the years, playing competitive hockey all over Surrey. Today the club has two teams in Surrey League Division 6 and 10 and is holding an open day on Saturday 3 September between 11-12.30pm at Cranleigh School.
