Sahuarita High School
Sahuarita maintained its reputation as an Arizona boom town in 2004, as its population passed 10,000; triple what it was in 2000. Residential building has continued to sky rocket, as the town added a Wal-Mart Super Center, Madera Marketplace, as well as the new Fry's Marketplace in Rancho Sahuarita. In addition, developer Phillip Aries proposed an annexation to the west that could mean another 20,000-unit residential development, plus commercial possibilities. There are many builders such as KB Home, Richmond American, Maracay, Pulte Home, DR Horton and others; currently building homes in Sahuarita at a feverish pace. Sahuarita's name roughly translates from Spanish as "little saguaro", for the famous cactus that thrives throughout the Santa Cruz Valley area.
