Sweet Readers
When you help Sweet Readers, you support Literacy and the Arts. Sweet Readers programs engage our youth and aging populations in literature and the arts. Our programs inspire kids and elders to explore museums again and discover art in exciting new ways. Our programs engage both kids and the elderly in poetry, music, reading and writing and elevate literature to a heartwarming new art form. Real change comes with a cost and in our challenged economy, budgets for the arts and education have been dramatically cut. When you support Sweet Readers, you give critical support to the arts and literacy. Your support helps us transform burdened societies into united, thriving communities. Alzheimer's and related dementias know no boundaries. People from every walk of life, every culture, every climate, and with every political belief are being effected by AD. It's tearing families apart and threatening healthcare systems. With the right approach and support, however, AD could be the great unifier. A unifier of families and a unifier of people. When you support Sweet Readers, you enable us to make that possibility a reality. We're watching it happen right before our eyes! With your support, Sweet Readers will be able to grow our community-based programs across all cultures. As we build on the connections we are making, our compassion will overshadow the dark isolation associated with Alzheimer's and related dementias. Our programs are already making a difference. The creative human engagement we provide gives elders in need purpose and inspires them to stay with us a little longer and have an easier end, lifting the burden to themselves, their caregivers and their communities. Together we can support and advocate for those in need. We're at a tipping point....and your support can go a long way fast! Finally, there's a ground swell. So many people are affected in some way by AD that the government, after over twelve years of lobbying, has passed an Act to establish a plan for AD and increase funding. Your dollars can finally be used most efficiently to have the greatest impact. Awareness has increased and with it, the possibilities to help have too. Doors are opening for people and companies like Sweet Readers who can help. We're at the right place at the right time to tackle this challenge and be instrumental in real change. And your support can help make it a reality sooner than ever before possible. A curse or a blessing....timing is critical and your help can make a difference. As our aging population grows, it's both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because so many elders have something important to contribute to our youth and to society and a curse because the number of people who will suffer from Alzheimer's and related dementias is growing exponentially with no cure in sight. The more stimulating intergenerational programs we can develop and spread, the more blessings we can experience. Maybe we can even balance or even tip the scale and outweigh the curse of these diseases.
