North Star Gymnastics

North Star is a family owned club. Mary & John Unertl have owned and operated North Star in McKinney since 1989. The husband and wife team has blended Mary's lifelong involvement with gymnastics and John's managerial background. Mary has been a competitive gymnast, holding titles of Texas State Champion and Junior Olympic champion, and was a competitor participating in the Olympic trials in Long Beach, Calif. in 1968. In addition she has been a professional cheerleader, and is currently certified as an AGA judge. North Star programs are devoted to the development of self-confidence and personal esteem through positive motivational coaching. Our professional staff is committed to teaching your child the thrill of sport and movement in a fun filled positive way. We are actively involved in the national accreditation program offered by USA Gymnastics. Our students' skills are developed through implementation of the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Compulsory Program. We're proud of the fact that we have many second generation gymnasts at this point. Many mom's today, were students in years past, and are returning with their children to have them experience the fun and enjoyment they once had. We feel this speaks volumes about the quality of our program. As of September 14, 2011, for the fourth consecutive year, North Star has captured various "Readers Choice" awards from the McKinney Courier Gazette newspaper. North Star has been voted "Best" for Gymnastics, Sports Team Health and Beauty, Summer Camps, Children's Place to Party and Best Place to Work! We are proud of these awards as they speak volumes as to the quality of our organization.
