Tamagawa University
Tamagawa Gakuen of Canada Society is an 84 acre, non-profit organization located in the small harbour city of Nanaimo, on the south-eastern shore of Vancouver Island. he Society was founded in 1975 by Tamagawa Gakuen, a private K-12 Academy & University located in Tokyo, Japan. The educational arm of Tamagawa Gakuen stretches beyond the shores of Japan and has been reaching the Pacific North-West since 1975.Tamagawa Gakuen of Canada Society, located on Vancouver Island in the province of British Columbia, began its early academic life by conducting environmental studies, ecological research and by facilitating intensive, English Immersion programs for the Tamagawa students. The president of Tamagawa University in 1974, Dr. Tetsuro Obara, purchased the Nanaimo lakeshore farm with the intent of providing students of the Faculty of Agriculture a field-work facility, while at the same time inviting other Tamagawa students to experience different cultures and the English-speaking world from this small corner of North America.
