Tekfen

Tekfen Construction strengthens its existence in Saudi Arabia, which has increased its focus on infrastructure works in relation to the increasing oil income in recent years. Tekfen Construction, taking its first step into Saudi Arabia with the water treatment facility it built in 1980, is one of the very few contracting companies with full compliance in the country. The work volume of Tekfen Construction increases in Saudi Arabia on a daily basis especially with the focus Saudi Arabia has had in infrastructure investments within the past few years. The first projects Tekfen Construction realized in Saudi Arabia were related more to the facilities establishing the water infrastructure of the country. The first of these was Riyadh High Point Terminal, whose construction commenced in 1980 and was completed in 1983. The project aiming to carry the water obtained from Jubail water desalination facility to the capital city of Riyadh, covered the construction of 6 fortified concrete water tanks, each having a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters. This project, which Tekfen undertook in partnership with Ciconest, a Saudi Arabian company, has an important place in the history of the company as being the first international job that the company was solely responsible for from the start to end, as well as providing the opportunity to introduce Tekfen to the Saudi Arabian market, which at the time was virtually a new market. Following the Riyadh High Point Terminal, Tekfen Construction realized the water transfer systems of Asir and Jubail-Riyadh, again carrying great importance with regards to the water infrastructure of the country, which were also aimed at transferring desalinated sea water to the settlement areas, as well as the construction of sewage water and rain water systems. The project that was realized at Taif also had a special place for Tekfen as being the first project it realized in Saudi Arabia without a partner. Tekfen realized its first project related to oil and natural gas facilities in Saudi Arabia, with the Natural Gas Pipeline in Aramco Hawiyah region during 1992-1993. Although Aramco, the oil production company of Saudi Arabia and the owner of the project, is known as a hard to satisfy and extremely tough employer with regards to work discipline and high safety standards, Tekfen was able to successfully complete the project without causing any issues and thus acquired great prestige before its employer. Tekfen took its place among the contracting companies with priority preference sought in worldwide projects, after having proven itself especially in "work safety" with this project. The appearance of Tekfen Construction, which continues its presence in Saudi Arabia without any interruptions since 1980, in the "Certified Contracting Firms" of Aramco that is published regularly on an annual basis, has great importance as an indicator that shows the reliability of the company. Khurais Oil field Development Project, 1st and 2nd Phase Mechanical works takes the first spot in the list of works, which are still ongoing in Saudi Arabia, performed by Tekfen Construction. The project, which started in 2007 and is planned to be completed by the end of 2008, is worth about 150 million USD. The employer of the project, for which Italian Snamprojetti Company is the main contractor, is Saudi Aramco. The project scope mainly consists of construction of pipe prefabrication and installation, pipe bridges, fire hydrant system, turbine flare installation and gas fuel system facilities. Tekfen Construction has also caught attention with the success it has achieved in the accident-free area in the works it is about to complete in "Outside Facility" work in UOU and UO1, within the scope of the Petrorabigh Refinery Development Project it started in 2006 at Saudi Arabia. The fertilizer factory phosphoric acid facility construction project tendered by Ma'Aden, a public institution, is undertaken in partnership with the French Litwin company.
