Territory Proud
Territory Proud was created in 2003 to help promote Territory businesses as a first choice option for consumers, businesses and government when making their purchase decisions with the motto "Working Together. Helping Territorians Achieve Their Goals". Initially it was a project of the Northern Territory Business Council with financial support from the NT Government and a wide range of Territory businesses. After the initial program the then chairman of the NTBC, Geoff Goodrich and his wife Merry took control of Territory Proud raising funds to assist young Territorian's achieve their goals including the formation of the Territory Proud Youth Choir to enter the ABC Sing Out Competition in Adelaide where they finished a very popular second and also assist Tahnee Afuhaamango to attend the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Ireland in 2006. In 2007 Territory Proud Incorporated was formed and a committee elected under the chairmanship of Geoff to carry on the work. It was at this time that the Territory Proud Service Excellence Awards were started with sponsorship from the Commonwealth Bank and the strong support of their Local Business Banking Manager, Sue Milner. In 2009 Territory Proud ran a number of workshops to ask its members what they wanted the goals of Territory Proud Inc to be and the answer was to continue to raise the profile of Territory businesses and to assist those businesses to raise their profile and provide support. In these tougher economic times there has been resurgence in interest in local businesses joining Territory Proud. The Association is always looking for ways to achieve these goals and, as an all-volunteer organisation, individuals and businesses to join in partnership with the Association to do this. We hope you will join us.
