The Company is committed to developing the quality of communal societies in order to ensure a contented and sustainable co-existence between the Company and communities. In 2010, the Company organized the following public interest activities. 1. The occurrence of severe flooding was one of the worst natural disasters in our history. This natural disaster caused suffering for the Thai people in many provinces and led to losses of lives, properties and ways of living. Thanulux Pcl., in collaboration with its executive officers and employees, donated funds and essential items and consumables as preliminary alleviation for those people's sufferings. The contributions were made through Khun Kwankaew Watcharothai, on behalf of the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under the Royal Patronage, in the amount of Baht 100,000, and through the Thai Red Cross Society in the amount of Baht 25,000 on 30th November 2010. 2. A community development centre called the "Bualuang Community Pre-School Child Centre" was established in Yannawa District, Bangkok. The centre provides care for infants on behalf of parents burdened by occupations out of their homes, and provides opportunities for the development of those children's knowledge and competencies into a desirable younger generation. The centre currently undertakes the care of approximately 50 children. The Company provided funding for repairs and renovations to the centre's roof as well as other facilities, viz. fans, educational equipment, consumable and non-consumable goods in the amount of Baht 68,000. A presentation ceremony was held on 18th October 2010. 3. The Company donated the sum of Baht 1,000,000 in contribution to the fund for construction of the Bhumisirimangkhlanusorn Building, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, together with medical equipment. The building will serve as a comprehensive medical care building as well as a centre of medical excellence through which enhancement of capacities for the country's medical and public health services can be achieved. 4. The Company donated the sum of Baht 1,000,000 for the construction of an image of Buddha in the world enlightenment posture, 27 metres tall (tallest in Thailand), to be enshrined at Wat Wimuttham, See Kew District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, in celebration of His Majesty the King's 84th Anniversary on 5th December 2011. 5. The Company donated funds to Dr. Thiem Chokwatana Foundation on the occasion of the death anniversary of Former Chairman Dr. Thiem Chokwatana on 29th June 2010 in the amount of Baht 50,000. The donation was intended for expenditures in public interest activities of the foundation. 6. The Company contributed items, utensils and prizes in children's activities to schools in surrounding communities and participated in activities to enhance the children's understanding of self-importance, educational determination, discipline, diligence and peaceful coexistence in society. These children will be the key elements in the future development of the country. 7. The Company appreciates the importance of giving "life", being the most gracious form of giving. In pursuit thereof, the Company organized regular blood donation campaigns for the National Blood Centre, the Thai Red Cross Society and Kabinburi Hospital. This year, the Company received an Honorary Certificate for cooperation in obtaining group blood donors in the aid of mankind for 5 consecutive years from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 30th November 2010. 8. As a result of the Company's pursuit of a policy on the employment of disabled persons so as to provide occupations and subsistence earnings for those persons, the Company was awarded with a complimentary shield from the Director-General of Department of Employment for collaboration in expanding employment opportunities for the disabled on 16th August 2010. 9. The Company organized open days for visits from various educational institutions in order to improve their knowledge, and also accepted students for vocational training in several aspects as a source of knowledge and work experience.
