Domains are a public resource that is basically rented/leased. Registrars are in charge of managing the resource. Of course they should be allowed to make a profit by charging fees for managing the resource. However, unlike the rental company of your example, they do not OWN the resource, nor should they be allowed to unfairly compete against their customers. This needs to be ironclad in the RAA, and any ill-gotten domains MUST be released to the auction pool.
