The Financial Executives Networking Group
The Financial Executives Networking Group ("The FENG") provides senior executives an easy way to network exclusively with other senior financial executives and to share career transition experiences, job leads and workplace challenges. The group began in 1991 with a few friends who met regularly in a library. Over time, that FENG "circle of friends" has grown to over 45,000 members. True to its original purpose, THE FENG has limited membership to senior financial executives, who have typically been CFO's, Controllers, Treasurers or Vice Presidents of Finance, Tax, M&A and in other financial disciplines. Members have achieved six figure compensation, and usually have 15 to 20 years of work experience. A new member must be sponsored by a current member of The FENG. There are no dues or fees for membership. The Portland Chapter of The FENG operates under the same guiding principles as the national organization, and was initially organized in 2003 by Joe Connors. Joe had been a member of the Boston Chapter and recognized the potential benefits to senior financial professionals seeking career and networking opportunities in the greater Portland and Southwest Washington area. The Portland Chapter now has almost 400 members, including over 100 members residing outside of Oregon & Washington. The Portland Chapter holds meetings on the second Thursday of each month. Chapter meetings generally include a Guest Speaker, but are primarily devoted to networking between members, guests, and hosting organizations. The Chapter also periodically arranges Members-only special events with the support of local organizations and sponsors.
