The Lines

The Lines Company owns and operates the electricity distribution network that provides power for the people of the King Country region of the central North Island. Our primary aim is to provide a reliable supply of electricity at an affordable price to the people we serve. The region we supply is large with many remote rural settlements and farm connections. The terrain is rugged and stretches from the west coast to New Zealand's highest connection point in New Zealand on Mt Ruapehu. Our network is 4,500 kms long - the distance from the coast to Sydney and back again. It supplies over 24,000 customers. Because of the cost of operating such a large network over difficult country for a relatively small population base, The Lines Company has a direct billing system for all our customers.
