The Thaiger

The Phuket Gazette was the island's legacy media since 1993, the first island English-speaking newspaper. It was owned, managed and nurtured for the entire time by island long-termer John Magee. Although the newspaper closed its 23 year print run in April 2017, the digital assets of the website, social media pages and YouTube live on under new management of The Thaiger Pte Ltd. The Thaiger started in Phuket in October 2016, initially as a new FM radio station for the island. The Thaiger Pte Ltd is now registered in Singapore and provides Thailand and SE Asia with the next generation of media - news, lifestyle, restaurant reviews, Top Tens, travel info, free classifieds and much more, have a look around! Thaiger News is short, to-the-point, mobile-first, accurate and timely. Not only do we get you the main news stories first, we also update them more often. Additionally we have a huge resource of information articles about Thailand and the region. The Thaiger added Vietnamese language news in September 2019 and Indonesian in December of the same year, and will be adding more native language news services for the region down the line. The Thaiger now provides Thailand's most comprehensive news pages in English, Thai, and Vietnamese; five Facebook pages, a YouTube channel, Instagram and Twitter. Initially based in Phuket, The Thaiger is now a Thailand and regional portal providing a daily one-stop-shop for news, information and lifestyle. image
