One morning at dawn, as we sat on top of Stromboli watching sparks fly out of the crater, we decided to start a business focused on bringing discerning travellers to Sicily. In 2002, we saw that nobody was focusing on upscale villas in Sicily and founded The Thinking Traveller. In December of that year we launched Think Sicily with a collection of seven of the most beautiful villas available for rent at that time. We soon realised that the only way we could consistently exceed our clients' expectations was by adopting a model of "quality through exclusivity", and Think Sicily quickly became the point of reference for exceptional villas in Sicily. Exclusivity - meaning that our villas are only available through us - has been at the core of what we do ever since. It allows us to create enduring partnerships with our like-minded property owners, which in turn gives us a direct, hands-on role in assuring quality, something that is not possible when villas are rented through multiple channels. Our on-the-ground concierges work closely with the owners and staff of our villas, and carry out regular quality audits to ensure that everything is perfect when you arrive at your home from home. Having so many expert people in our destinations also allows us to offer an unrivalled range of unique Think Experiences. Another significant aspect of exclusivity is that our London and New-York based teams can visit and stay at our villas. Their knowledge of our properties and our destinations is real, in-depth and entirely at your disposal. But back to our adventure! After specialising in Sicily alone for seven years, growing our team of experts there and in our London offices. Many of our clients returned year after year and soon began asking "when are you going to do somewhere else? So, in 2009 with the help of some Puglian friends, we launched Think Puglia, again with just seven villas. The timing in Puglia was serendipitous. People were becoming aware of the heel of Italy's boot as a wonderful destination, but it was lacking a point of reference for high quality villa rentals. Then came Greece.
