Tricia

Tricia and the Toonies is a unique mixture of music, puppets, skits and laughter which has made it one of the most talked about family stage shows around. This exciting, interactive and educational, as well as musical, adventure is acclaimed by critics young and young-at-heart. Tricia Haynes, the creator and co-star of the show, strongly believes in the power of music and laughter to entertain, but also to teach and inspire. Between the light musical phrases, crazy antics and belly laughs, you'll find something more. You'll hear powerful, uplifting messages of teamwork, responsibility, self-esteem and the importance of education, to name a few. Captivating audiences of all ages, these gifted and skilful performers generate healthy kids and joy-filled families time after time. Tricia and the Toonies receive rave reviews from each performance. They were nominated for a Minnesota Music Award. The Toonies have been State Spokes-puppets for Arbor Month. You've heard Tricia and her Trees singing about Arbor Month on the radio. Tricia has written and produced Public Service Announcements for the MN Department of Natural Resources. The Toonies also perform environmental shows throughout the year, touring schools and communities sharing vital information with students and families (over 5000 students during Earth Week 2000 tour). All ages laugh along while learning more about recycling and caring for our environment. Tricia also wrote and directed an environmental musical for E-Community held at Mall of America, where she co-starred with Sesame Street's ELMO . With more than 3000 performances, Tricia, Pete and their puppets still find time to make regular visits to the children's hospitals, bringing music and laughter to these kids too. Opportunities such as these are at the heart of their work. The Toonies were thrilled with the opportunity to travel to St. Jude's Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee several times, courtesy of Target Corporation. Their greatest joy is contributing to the growth and positive development of today's children and their families. This is evident in their nationally acclaimed cassette tape, fabulous new video and in each and every one of their delightful live performances. Tricia released a wonderful video, "Toonies: A Valentine Adventure! August 99 issue of School Library Journal gave this video a great review ending with, "A fabulous addition to any collection."
