In Thorco Shipping, we have decided to continue our proactive and sustainable approach to our levels of CO2 emission. Despite that the fuel cost decreased significantly during the year, our approach remains unchanged. We have establish a comprehensive fuel efficiency and performance program which includes several areas, however, the main object is to optimize the fuel consumption measured against transported cargo at sea under the conditions given by Thorco Shipping's customers. We have a clear goal on reducing the CO2 emission from the vessel operated in Thorco Shipping on commercial management, long term leases and direct/indirect owned vessels. Besides reducing the CO2-emission the program will also benefit in the respect of reduced maintenance cost and less exposure to risk of failure from pure quality oil, bad weather etc. with the result we can secure our customers on-time tailor made transportation solutions. The program contains elements of: · Voyage monitoring · Accurate voyage instructions · Vessel performance management system implementation · Hull and propeller cleaning · Green vessels and retrofit of existing fleet By monitoring all ships in systems we can coach and train our crew on board the ships and operators at shore to easily discover if vessels are not following our instructions. However, the instructions given from the shore personnel to the vessels needs to be accurate and with the right focus in optimizing the voyages. We collect as much relevant data as possible and store everything in a system where it will be possible for Thorco Shipping to evaluate historical data on performance parameters. The final goal is to have a generic and maintained system raising alarms when any parameter is exceeded in order to quickly rectify the problem and hereby improve the fleet fuel consumption and reduce the emissions. At the same time the fleet will be fuel efficient and we strive to be market leader in our segment. Focus at fouling on hull and propeller has been one of the key areas in 2014. We have implemented systematic hull inspection processes for managed and owned vessels. The purpose of this is to combine the knowledge from our Performance monitoring system and the visual inspection.
